National Women Build 2nd Year - Another Great Success!

A crew of women volunteers raised the walls of a Kalamazoo Valley Habitat for Humanity (KVHH) house during National Womens Build Week, May 1-9, at 3233 Ash, Kalamazoo. This was the second Women Build project taken on by KVHH and was part of Habitat’s third annual National Women Build Week, sponsored by Lowe’s. KVHH is one of more than 200 Habitat affiliates across the United States that hosted a Women Build day during the week leading up to Mother’s Day.
“The community’s response was exciting and overwhelming,” said KVHH Board President Sam Lealofi. "We are grateful for the community’s support and plan on another House Raising in 2010 and a Women Build in 2011.”
Volunteers are needed for other Habitat projects throughout the summer. To find out more, click the Volunteer tab on this site.
Lowes located at 5108 S. Westnedge in Portage provided six "How to" clinics that prepared women (participants) for the build. There was a great response from the female participants. "The instructors were great and provided a lot of good information."
Thanks to BIGGBY Coffee located at 5913 Gull Rd. who provided fresh brewed coffee each morning. It was delicious!
